Auto World in Ahmedabad is a famous museum housing an impressive collection of vintage cars, bikes, buggies, and utility vehicles. The museum boasts over 300 vehicles, including notable ones like the car used in the film Gandhi and the first Maybach ever made. Visitors can explore rare vehicles such as Bentley, Lagonda, Rolls Royce, Cadillac, Austin, Jaguar, Mercedes, and Auburns. One of the highlights is the 1923 Rolls 20 HP with a shooting brake-body by Barker. Auto World gained recognition in the Guinness Book of World Records for its exceptional collection.
Pranlal Bhogilal initiated the Auto World Museum on his 2200-acre estate, Dastan, in 1927. His passion for collecting cars led to a remarkable collection of over 204 vehicles, with 105 on display in Ahmedabad. Bhogilal ensured all cars were in working condition. The museum’s history is intertwined with notable events like Ulrich Schmid-Maybach’s visit from Germany to persuade Bhogilal to sell a cherished Maybach, which he declined.
